What's Itinerary

Day 1 – Phuntsholing: Arrival and leisure day

Upon your arrival in Bhutan from Hasimara/NJP/Bagdogra, an agent’s representative will receive you at the airport/railway station and transfer you to the hotel in Phuntsholing. Register yourself at the reception and relax in your room.

Your day is at leisure and you can utilize it at per convenience. Explore the local markets on your own and come back to the hotel after a delicious dinner and snuggle the night away.

Day 2 – Paro: Transfer and local sightseeing

Savour a hearty breakfast and proceed for your transfer to Paro. Complete the hotel check-in formalities and gear up for local sightseeing. Visit Chuzom and Tachog Lhakhang.

Chuzom: Chuzom is the place where Paro Chhu and Wong Chhu rivers meet. You will also get to witness the three stupas, built in Bhutanese, Tibetan and Nepalese styles at Chuzom.

Tachog Lhakhang: Located on the Paro-Thimphu highway, the Tachog Lhakhang was built in the 15th century. The iron chain bridge located with prayer flags is a breathtaking site. Seek peace and tranquillity with your partner as you embark upon an adventure.

Day 3 – Paro: Excursion to Tiger Nest

Relish a delectable breakfast and proceed for an excursion to Tiger Nest and Kyichu Lhakhang with your partner.

Tiger’s Nest: Paro Taktsang or Tiger’s Nest as it is popularly called is a prominent temple complex located on the cliffside of the upper Paro valley. The temple devoted to Padmasambhava was built around 1692 and attracts tourists from the world over. Revel in the scenic beauty with your loved one and cherish the quality of time.

Kyichu Lhakhang: Situated in the Lango Gewog of Paro district, the Kyichu Lhakhang is one of Buddha’s oldest and most beautiful temples. Spin the many prayer wheels at this historic site and seek tranquillity.

Day 4 – Thimphu: Sightseeing and transfer

Gorge upon a healthy breakfast and visit local sites in Paro with your partner. Visit Dumtseg Lhakhang, Ta Dzong National Museum and Paro Rinpung Dzong.

Jangtsa Dumtseg Lhakhang: Located on the edge of a hill between the Paro Valley and the Dopchari Valley, the Jangtsa Dumtseg Lhakhang was built in 1421 by an eminent Tibetan saint. A high point of Bhutanese architecture, this Chorten is a must-see for everyone interested in Buddhism.

Ta Dzong National Museum: This cultural museum was built in 1968 and houses some of the most impressive exhibits in the country. The displays include a rare collection of thangkas and fearsome festival masks. Rich in cultural heritage and tradition, the National Museum of Bhutan is a must-visit for all art enthusiasts.

Paro Rinpung Dzong: The Rinpung Dzong is a Buddhist monastery and fortress which was founded in the 15th century. The monastery today stands as a high point of Bhutanese architecture. Visit the Dzong to seek peace and refresh your mind and soul.

Proceed with your transfer to Thimphu. Register yourself at the reception and proceed sightseeing. Your itinerary for the day covers Memorial Chorten, Farmer’s Market, Tashichho Dzong, and Buddha Point.

Memorial Chorten: Also known as Thimphu Chorten, this iconic landmark was built in 1974 as a memorial to the third King,  Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Decorated with elaborate mandalas and statues, the Chorten attracts tourists from the world over.

Farmer’s market: The Centenary Farmer’s Market in Thimphu is the largest domestic market for farmers in Bhutan. You can buy fresh, organic products at cheap prices in this market.

Tashichho Dzong: Your next stop for the day is the Tashichho Dzong, a monastery and fortress on the western bank of Wang Chu. Visit the thirty temples, chapels, and shrines within the Tashichho Dzong for an elusive calm.

Buddha Point: The Kuensel Phodrang is a gigantic Buddha statue in the mountains of Bhutan. Offering a scintillating view of the entire valley, the Buddha Point is bound to enchant you.

What is the best time to visit Bhutan?

Being a year-round destination, Bhutan can be planned at any time of the year. Spring brings along the vibrant colours of the season carpeting the valley with new blooms. Do Indians need visa for Bhutan?

Indian nationals do not need a visa to visit Bhutan. All you need is a passport valid for six months or a voter’s identity card which will permit you entry to Paro and Thimpu only. A special area permit from the RGoB in the capital city, Thimpu is required for visiting towns other than Paro and Thimpu. If you are entering Bhutan via road, then you need to present a permit issued by the office in Phuentsholing.

How far is Thimpu from Paro?

A scenic valley town located west of Thimpu, Paro is about 50 km via Thimpu Highway and is an hour-long drive from the capital. Home to the only international airport, Paro is the gateway to Bhutan for international tourists.

Can I travel to Bhutan by road?

Bhutan is accessible from India by road through West Bengal and Assam. In Bengal, take the road to Phuentsholing from Bagdogra which is a stretch of 170 km and in Assam head to Samdrup Jongkhar from Darranga about 50 km from Guwahati.
